1. Use any settings you want for a new image, you can simply have it sized as your desktop, but I will use my usual settings, as you can see below.
2. Apply Filter>Render>Fibers, and use 1, 64 as settings.
3. Press Ctrl+I to invert the image, then duplicate the layer twice by pressing Ctrl+J. Your image should look like the one below…
4. Now, on the top layer apply Filter>Stylize>Wind 3 times, from left to right. Change its blending layer to Multiply.
5. On the layer below, apply Filter>Stylize>Wind 3 times in the opposite direction, then set the blending mode of the layer to Linear Light.
6. Press Ctrl+Shift+N to create a new layer, then go to Image>Apply Image, press OK and then run the Sharpen filter twice.
7. Duplicate this layer with Ctrl+J, apply Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur with 1.0 pixels setting, and change the layer blending mode to Lighten.
8. Press Ctrl+B to bring up the Color Balance dialog, and use these settings below…
Shadows: red: +60
Highlights: yellow -100
Preserve Luminosity: checked
9. Create a new layer again, and use Image>Apply Image. At last, change the layer’s blending mode to Overlay.
To change the final result as you wish, you can play with the layers by changing their blending modes and color balance. Feel free to show us your results, in fact that’s exaactly what you should do… Good luck!
