Shiny spheres and other shapes look simply great, and you don’t have to be a Photoshop Guru to create a shiny, translucent sphere in less than 10 minutes. If you didn’t learn how to do that by now, don’t worry, I’ll show you right away!

1. Create a new Photoshop document 500X500 pixels, with a transparent background.

Use these settings

2. Add a new layer (simply use Ctrl+Shift+N), and fill it with black, using the Paint Bucket tool.

You should see something like this

3. Open the Filter menu, and choose Render>Lens Flare.

Go here

4. Use 105mm Prime with 100% Brightness, as you can see in the screenshot below.

10. This is it! Now you can enjoy the result of your hard work…

The final result

Optionally, you can adjust Hue/Saturation to change the color, and you can also copy the sphere to use in another project. To get a better look for the sphere, duplicate the existing layer and use Screen as blending mode for the new layer. You got the sphere, now use it as you like, and maybe you’ll also share your results with the rest of us…
