This tutorial on how to make a bright starry sky can be of help to anyone who wants a cool desktop background.
2. Select the Burn Tool and choose the leaf brush, then set the exposure to 15-20%. Burn the background leaving some lighter areas.

3. Switch to Dodge Tool selecting the leaf brush again, set the exposure to 20%, and go over the lighter areas. Then create a new layer, and with a soft round brush (sizes varying between 3 and 7 pixels) start drawing the stars.

4. Create another layer. Set the brush size around 30 pixels and the opacity to 25-30%. Color over a few stars to make them glow and you’re done.

Very nice and very easy to do.Nice work.
This is cool, and easy, but helped a lot. I found this just in time for a project. It looks even crazier when you change the colors around, like red.

whats the burn tool
I refer back to this tutorial every time I need to make a starry sky. It works great, especially with some improvisation added!
You guys obviously have not ever used photo editing software if you don’t know that there is a freakin burn tool in like everyone. Even Paint.NET has a burn tool. Leaf brush I have never heard of but burn is definetly a given sheesh.
The leaf brush is the brush that looks like a leaf… expert photoshopper indeed.
The burn tool’s the one on the toolbox that’s 7 down and on the right. Right click and choose the little pinchy hand.
Very interested indeed. Great job

Thank you! Thank you! I’d been searching for a starry sky to use on my website - this is perfect!
Very cool! This is so easy! I probably would have tried to just draw it. In case you don’t know, I would have looked like crap!
