I don’t know if you have snow in your area or not, but today I’ll show you how to easily add snow to your pictures. It just started snowing, and there’s nothing covered in snow yet, so your final result should be similar to the image below…

Let It Snow

1. Open the picture you want to work on from the computer, or import it. It doesn’t matter how you do it, just be sure to have an image open in Photoshop…

Let It Snow

2. Press Shift+Ctrl+N to create a new layer, and then fill it with white.

3. Now, use Filter>Noise>Add Noise, with the settings below.

4. Next, press Ctrl+T and resize the layer according to the dimensions of your picture. In my case, I used 400%, because the picture was pretty large, so keep this in mind - if the final result doesn’t look as expected, get back here and play with the layer resize amount!

5. Change the blending mode of the “White Layer” to Screen, then go to Image>Adjustments>Threshold and use 220 as setting(if 220 doesn’t work, make sure to get a result that looks like mine below).

Let It Snow

6. Use Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur, and play with the settings as you wish. In my case, I used 2 pixels setting.

7. At last, duplicate the “White Layer”, and use Filter>Blur>Motion Blur, with the amount and angle you need(see my settings below).

This is it!
